Tonight we went to a church dinner and auction fundraiser. C went to check out the baked goods and came running back to the table. "Mommy! Somebody made a cake of me! Come see!!" How could we not buy it?
At home, as she was heading off to the shower she said, "Don't worry, when I get up in the morning, I won't sneak any of my cake." It came totally out of the blue and, quite frankly, I didn't find her promise very reassuring. In the last few months, after every holiday that involved receiving candy, she and her sister sneak down before we get up and have chocolate for breakfast. I need to remember to lock the pantry tonight.
P went a little crazy tonight, buying far more than we could possibly eat - so he decided to give a pie to one of our neighbors. At first he was going to give it to someone a few doors up, but then he saw that Mr and Mrs Neighbor had company and thought it might go to better use there. Mr Neighbor answered the door, and when P told him he brought them a pie, he asked incredulously "Are you kidding me?" I laugh out loud everytime I think of what his face must have looked like.

Was that an "are you kidding me" in a nice suprised but so grateful way? Way to be a great neighbor P!! Maybe he'll soften up.
Oh! I forgot to mention the cake! Wow! That's pretty amazing! And a great picture to document the resemblance. I take Brooklyn to 7-eleven sometimes after school for a slurpee and the gal that works there always tells us how much B looks like her own daughter. Last week she took her daughter to work with her (she's 5) hoping we'd come in so they could meet. There was quite a bit of a resemblence. Both had bobbed brown hair, brown eyes and big cheeks. It was funny that she went to all the trouble to have them meet!
It was a nice surprised way. I asked P if he thought they'd eat it or toss it worrying that it had been spit in or poisoned. He said that he'd told them to save him a slice, so hopefully they didn't have those concerns. However, if they had brought us the pie, I would definitely have been suspicious!
